Elvis Acetate Records at the O2

Elvis Acetate Records at the O2

Recently, we took a trip to London’s dockland area to visit, amongst other things, the ‘Elvis at the O2’ exhibition. Prior to ‘seeing’ Elvis, we’d stopped off at the Thames barrier for a quick look around the exhibition, and a cuppa. As the weather was fine, we decided to walk to the O2, which involved a fairly lengthy, but very pleasant stroll along the Thames river footpath.

The exhibition, although not vast, presents a wide range of Elvis memorabilia, including several of his cars, loads of outfits which he’d worn on stage, and many of Elvis’s personal possessions, including letters, rings and even his personal keys to Graceland on display. The constant playing of Elvis music is atmospheric and enjoyable for the visitor – although it must be rather tedious for the staff!

One exhibit that caught my eye was a framed gold disc, which interestingly also included a gold cassette – I guess we’re talking the ’70s here when cassettes were popular.

My favourite exhibit though must be the display case containing some very rare original acetate discs, no doubt worth a fortune.

Oh, and of course, his bright red 1960 MG roadster!

The ‘Elvis at the O2’ exhibition is on at the O2 daily until 8th January 2016 – well worth a visit!
