INTRODUCTION

Why transfer records and tapes to CD?

For as long as records and tapes have been around, the listener has had to accept clicks, crackle and hiss accompanying their recordings. Since the early 1980s, when the Compact Disc Digital Audio format was released, we have enjoyed the benefits of click, crackle and hiss-free recordings, with the convenience of a small robust disc. Furthermore, the CD holds an entire LPs worth of music (and more!) without the need to turn the record over half-way through.

However, the downside to this digital breakthrough was the rapid demise of the vinyl and tape formats. The record player became banished to the loft, or worse still, was disposed of. The remaining (often substantial) record collections have been left to gather dust, and are no longer played, even though they invariably contain a wealth of great music and priceless memories.

At Audio Restored we can recover your precious music from whatever source, be it records (78 rpm shellac, acetate, 16, 33 or 45 rpm discs) or tapes (cassette, reel to reel, 8-track cartridge, studio NAB carts or DAT). We apply whatever digital audio restoration is necessary to improve the sound, then transfer to CD or other current format such as .mp3. Once restored, your recordings can be enjoyed again, with all the convenience and benefits of the compact disc.
